Yoruba has the 5 things every nation needs to be independent-- Mr Omojowo

Aliu Akeem

The quest for the Oduduwa Sovereign nation is no longer news in Nigeria. If anyone fails to Know this, before the 60th Independence celebration, then the October first global rally should be enough. The Yoruba nationalists staged a global awareness rally to push their demands from the tight corners.

On Saturday October 3rd, the coordinator of the Oodua leading Vanguard, Mr Omojowo Victor Oluka appeared as a guest on The Social Watch media, where he discussed the topic" One Nigeria or Yoruba Nation. " When asked on how Independence was celebrated by him and other Oodua nationalists, he says" you don't celebrate failure. Nothing to celebrate. Nigeria is a failed state."

He goes further to explain how the Yoruba people became part of Nigeria. " The Yoruba people were living as a nation before the amalgamation of 1914. The amalgamation joined us with Nigeria and we became one. But since then, there haven't been any benefits of the togetherness. " The Yoruba Nation is long due for its sovereign state , following the legal documents and conditions attached to the amalgamation, which states that" if the country fails to work as one, then the regions can split as independent states after 100 years. By this, 2014 may have been the year of the expiration of such agreement.

On what to do to achieve the goal, he said" we will do everything legal to ensure we gain our nation peacefully just as seen in Yugoslavia. However,  he insists that the national agitators will not take anything either restructuring or whatsoever other than Independence.

On likely challenges that may come the way, he admits that the struggle will surely face challenges. But instead of absconding from such, " we will wait and overcome it." Such challenges may even include internal crisis, such as activities from betrayals.
Speaking on the territory of the Yoruba people and the people of Kwara; Kogi, he says" Yoruba territory ends at Jebba near the River Niger Bridge. Besides, the Yoruba race in these two states have indicated interests to be part of the nation. And the Yoruba own most of the land in these states. For instance, In Kwara, Yoruba has 16 LGAs out of the 18, likewise Kogi.

As per the resources required to stand as a nation, he says" the Yoruba Nation, has the five resources needed by any nation to be independent. They are : Natural resources. This include Petroleum and arable land for agriculture. Human resources. These refer to the people of different talents, gifts, intelligence and charisma the Yoruba people have produced. Homogeneity,  therefore, means sameness in culture, belief, language and histories. Population The Yoruba people are about 80 million living in Nigeria. Some countries do not even have upto this and they are living fine.

Lastly, coastline. There must be Ocean and deep seas which Yoruba has for shipping of goods. With these , Yoruba Nation can not suffer, he said
