Why Gbenu should be re-elected.

Badagry West has never been found wanting in effective representation, especially when it comes to the position of local government chairman. Right from the days of Akojenu, Bamgbose and now Gbenu.

The tenure of Hon. Bamgbose Hontonyon Joseph, really brought transformational changes from primitive lives, to the beginning of a more advanced one, which defined real meanings of democratic dividends to the people. His water project for all communities marked the end of the moribund pump system used for water in the antiquated days by the construction of boreholes. He gave out free school busses to students, engaged in free GCE forms every year. Welfare package for chiefs, monarchs and empowerment for traders, artisans, religious heads were not left out.

However, his biggest imprint is the architectural redefinition of Badagry West Secretariat to what it is today, with the majestic and aesthetic building erected within the premises to provide more office spaces to members of staff and accord its honour, as indeed a Secretariat.

But little did we know that all of Bamgbose's achievements are just the tip of the iceberg from his successor.

Still in his first term, Gbenu has labeled his names on the heart of everyone: building, constructing, rebuilding, and redefining projects and concepts.

One of his most impactful sector, has been in the aspect of education. According to the words of Plato, one of the greatest philosophers of all time. "The Treasure of a land is in the hands of its scholars." So to get scholars, not by education? Gbenu understands this and has made steps to get scholars from the region.

He begins this academic remodification sojourn, from his own alma mater - Salvation Army Primary School Boglo, by helping to engage in overhaul renovation of the school during a critical time of need. Thereafter, he sent his message to all public schools, through construction of classes and renovation of existing buildings. For instance, St. Peters Primary School Akoro, Methodist Primary School Kweme, and Apa Primary School, all are beneficiaries of his Schools' projects, with new buildings. And Ketawes Primary School, saw rebranding. And he also gives out free GCE and JAMB form to students to pursue higher education.

Since education cannot be the solution to every immediate problems, he looked at the other sectors. After the facilitation of Transformers by his predecessor -Bamgbose, many communities lacked the financial wherewithal to get poles. They referred to the council boss and over 20 communities were given electric poles, as the people dance in the joys brought by electricity after centuries of darkness.

Misinterpretations of religious contents are causing huge problems in Nigeria today. To avoid what is happening in some parts of the nation, Gbenu quickly inaugurates a body, which comprises the religious group in the area for better understanding and peaceful coexistence. This has in membership: Muslims, Celestial family members of different parishes and adherents of Pentecostal churches.

Before Gbenu became the chairman, one name that has been labeled on him is 'ATM Badagry.' He is a generous man from time, even before political ambitions. The generosity have only got increased after his appointment. Many people still gets to him and see the smiling faces amidst his busy schedule.

If he is allowed to continue the second term, surely other sectors are going to feel it and the work will be completely handed over to his successor. Areas such as: road construction, have also gained prominence too. Faransime road, Zongo and Aketegbo have felt it.   Agriculture, health and economic intervention, programs are underway.

During this government, Tourism has taken a new turn in the area. His Special Adviser on Tourism - Solomon Zosu is really a good adviser in this regard, a round peg in a round hole. The face and mood of Suntan Beach has been changed from a boring one, to a more buzzing type. He has facilitated others,  which are under development in Boglo and Aivoji. If re-elected,  more developmental projects will visit the people.

Likewise, only people who are healthy can come out and cast their votes during election. To address health challenges, the council boss has also taken giant strides in the health sector.  There is the construction of new Primary Health Care PHC building in Apa town. Igbogbele and Faransinme PHC are under rehabilitation too.
