Fernandez ranked best, Chukwueze 16th in Europa League.

 


Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been ranked the Europa League’s best player while Nigerian Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze is the 16th best player of the just-concluded Europe’s second-tier league competition by UEFA, The PUNCH reports.

Reigning champions Villarreal edged Manchester United 11-10 on penalties after score stood at 1-1 in Wednesday night’s Europa League final in Gdansk.

Geronimo Rulli was the hero for the Yellow Submarines, saving the decisive spot kick from David De Gea.

Bruno Fernandes was the top-ranked player of the competition with 9531 points. The Portuguese playmaker scored five goals and made four assists in nine appearances for the Red Devils.

Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno is second with 8555 points, while Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani finished third with 8506 points.

Daniel Parejo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Paul Pogba, Nicolas Pepe, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Raul Albiol and Alfonso Pedraza complete the top 10.

The 21-year-old Chukwueze amassed 4434 points after scoring one goal and making five assists in the tournament.

The winger, who is the only Nigerian in the top 100, was ranked ahead of Arsenal trio Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard and Granit Xhaka.
